Deal creates one of the world's biggest silver mining companies.

Company said the expansion, to start in early 2019, would add an average 60,000 tonnes of copper a year to its production over the first 15 years of operation.

Canada's largest diversified miner has been looking for a development partner for the $4.8-billion extension of Quebrada Blanca copper mine in northern Chile.

The unregulated operations were installed in Jamanxim and Río Novo National Parks.

Experts believe the US firm could achieve $300 million in operating and cost savings from combining its mines in Nevada with those of the Canadian rival.

The Maracás Menchen mine has a take-or-pay off-take agreement with Glencore for 100% of its vanadium material.

The miner has bought Mason Resources despite shareholder Waterton previously requesting a moratorium on any near-term acquisitions.

The project sits atop the Incahuasi Salar and it is located on the Chile/Argentina national border some 75 kilometres southeast from the Atacama Salar.

Santa Luz is a fully constructed open pit mine, which originally started production mid-2013 but was placed on care and maintenance in 2014.

While the decision is final and not subject to appeal, one legal hurdle remains — Pampa Group, which controls SQM, earlier this month filed an additional appeal with Chile's TDLC antitrust court.

The project, located in the San Juan province, is about 10km from the border with Chile, the world's No. 1 copper producer.

The combined miner plans to focus on Tier 1 assets, those producing at least 500,000 ounces of gold annually, with a mine life of more than 10 years and low costs.

While the project known as S11D isn't scheduled to hit its 90-million-ton capacity until 2020, China's appetite for the mine's low-cost, high-grade ore continues to grow.

Budgets jumped about 19%, outpacing last year's gain.

Cavalcanti joins Samarco as it attempts to renegotiate billions of dollars in debt with creditors and restart operations after a tailing dam burst in 2015, killing 19 people.

The applicant does not present the details necessary to rule out significant adverse impacts on the soil, water and air.

The agreement provides a considerable combined offering to the mineral exploration and mining market.

A congressional commission assembled to look into the incident blamed both the company and regulators, and called for civil and criminal investigations to continue.

A technical committee representing the coalition projected on Saturday a global oil surplus will resurface in 2019.
