Swick began with one underground production drill rig back in 1995 and commenced its diamond coring operations in June 2004.
Swick listed on the ASX in 2006 when it had 18 rigs and a turnover of $33 million. Now, 12 years on and after experiencing a boom and bust cycle in that time, Swick now has a fleet of 76 rigs and a turnover in excess of $135 million.
Working for over 60 individual clients and at a total of 130 different projects globally to achieve this significant milestone, Swick has performed quality diamond drilling operations for clients including Barrick, Newmont, Northern Star, BHP, Kirkland Lake Gold, and Rio Tinto.
| | | | Swick's drilling fleet is made in house and is known as the smallest, yet most powerful underground mobile diamond drill rig in the world. In addition to its unmatched performance, Swick rigs can boast an industry leading mechanical availability of 97%, unmatched by any other company.
Swick rigs not only set the benchmark for high productivity, but the rigs are also very capable of drilling deep holes. In fact, the deepest diamond drill hole drilled by Swick was a mammoth 1,757.9 metres!
Today, Swick stand ranked one of the top 5 mineral drilling contractor globally. The company is in a strong position with a great global footprint on which to take advantage of the renewed market optimism.
What 10 Million Meters of diamond core looks like:
- At an average of around 33m per shift that equates to around 303,000 rig shifts, or around 432 rig years of diamond core
- It's about 80% of the diameter of the earth
- The total weight of core Swick has produced is around 80,000 tonnes
- If you sat on a bullet train doing 320 km/hr it would take over 31 hours to pass the core
- If you sat on an Airbus A380 it would take over 11 hrs to fly over the core we have drilled
