Plateau Energy finds one of ‘world’s largest’ lithium-uranium resource in Peru

Company plans to complete a feasibility study next year, which will reveal whether the proposed $800 million, underground lithium-uranium mine can and should be built.

A researcher at the University of Kansas wants to study the fundamental factors that limit how atoms make bonds to uranium.

They were said to be investigating a private Russian security company operating in CAR as well as Russia's interests in the local diamond, gold and uranium sectors.

Company said first-half profit grew 12% to $4.42 billion, below the $4.53 billion forecast by analysts.

Demand for mining as well as oil and gas equipment is so strong that the company said it was taking orders for delivery well into 2019.

The news bumped Cameco's stock (CCO.TO) five per cent on Thursday send it to $14.97 a share.

Study released Tuesday by the Fraser Institute, British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec are the three main provinces where exploration permit processes have grown longer and less transparent over the past 10 years.

From the $939bn invested in major projects between 2008 and 2017, the world's top 40 mining companies by market cap. wrote-off $273bn or 29% of the initial capital outlay.
