An earthquake in Peru on Sunday has claimed two lives and caused an illegal mine to collapse. 

The re-start of a mothballed zinc mine in Australia is turning out to have a strong upside for both the mining company and its investors. 

Hunger for high-quality iron ore from Australia and Brazil pushed Chinese imports of the steelmaking ingredient to a record high in 2017.

Gold enjoyed a nice lift late last week as the yellow metal cruised to $1,337.40 at the close of trading Friday in New York. 

"From the macro point of view, this is not an environment where you'd want to be shorting metals."

The average E.V. requires 80kg more copper than a regular vehicle. There is also significant copper needed to build out E.V. infrastructure in the power grid as well as battery charging infrastructure.
